Testimonials Spring 2018

Arron Hoody and his Culebra.

I just want to say I love my Culebra. I've been playing with it for a few years with my buddy who introduced me to boating here on the east coast (the New, Gauley, and Yack rivers.) I recently bought the boat off him and have moved to NC. I had a friend from Richmond Va put a couple temporary patches on 2 holes from a mouse. From storage of the winter. Do you recommend a more long term permanent solution? I live in Charlotte NC so if there are any people you suggest out this way it would be appreciated. The boat holds air but I know it needs a professional fix. I did run some laps yesterday at the white water center. Thank you for your time

I do not recommend a more temporary solution if the patch is holding.  You did a good job.  Glue gets better with age for the first 7 to 10 years.

Dick Clark legendary Grand Canyon River Guide.  What he says about our little Cutthroat raft.

Your cataraft I bought has proven to be a great little boat thanks to your excellent workmanship. The attached photos show the three nice cargo nets/floors which can be ordered from Wet Dreams, a new river gear store in Flagstaff that does a lot of custom sewing for the canyon outfitters, and will sew to your specs. The front and back net has the straps sewn in which is nice but are not sewn in on the center net so they can be tightened better. Also I added those two straps and a carabineer to draw it tight but you can still leave the last section undone if you need to get your feet down in the water.

Eric Websters log of his 23 year old Big Brother Cat;

Here's a great shot of my 23 year old big brother tubes on my most recent trip- Deschutes River at Maupin, OR. Oak springs rapid (class IV).

I've had this boat out every weekend since mid May, I'm going to do an extensive goop job (over the on-River patches from the previous owner) as well as replace the end caps and a couple D rings prior to hitting class V water this fall.

So far, I've been on the following rivers:
-N. Santiam
-N. Umpqua
-McKenzie
-Deschutes
-Clackamas

I'll be adding these to the mix this fall:
-Wind River
-Metolius
-Owyhee
-Salmon/MF Salmon
-Wenatchee
-Klickitat
-Wilson

...And to think, some people have the nerve to trash talk PVC boats!

Best,
Eric

As of 1997 all boats have welded D rings.  Glue can get loose and soften over time.  That is why Eric needs to put on new end caps.  Still the main air holding parts of JPW boats have always been welded so that will not fail.

We suggest that if you have a boat with glued on D rings, and they have not been re glued in the past 10 years, that you carry a set of 4- 12 ft long cam straps that you can use to tie the tube to the frame in case of an emergency.

It is not uncommon for us to hear about boats that were made in 1988 still going strong.
