Dana is serious about this section of river. It should not be run by anyone except those who are highly prepared. If you have not had years of experience wrecks, and emergency training including rescue courses, do not attempt this. There is an alternative reason why Jeff and Dana are doing these runs from JPW perspective: These two are the best at reading and negotiating whitewater that I know. I trust them to make sound judgments while testing the limitations of a boat. I can not do the same. I spend too much time making this stuff, and am not in the kind of shape necessary for this level of physically demand. Also if you read the story, they know about hypothermia, and can deal with the environmental conditions. Please be carefull out there. We do not make this stuff so people can go get hurt.
