JPW made in the USA- New Mexico Made

personal fishing pontoons made for Denmark export

Certainly there is a lot of good reasons why you should buy products made in the USA.  Product quality, helping the American worker, the economic multiplier, and standards of living.  They are all good reasons.  The truth is that we live in a global market place, where anything can be made by anyone, just about anywhere.  Why then is it a good idea to buy products made in the USA, and especially products for whitewater rafting made on the edge of the desert.

We often hear people comment, "Isn’t it sort of odd that you build boats in the desert?" While it is true that we live on the edge of the desert, it is also true that we live near the tallest mountains in the lower 48 states. We live on the Colorado Plateau, the second largest mountain plateau on the planet. We live next to the Salt, Colorado, Green, Rio Grande and Arkansas River drainages. We live in the middle of the best back packing, and Climbing this country has to offer. We love the canyon country, and we are near the best multi day rafting stretches in the Western USA.   In short there is no better place for our company to be located. We love what we do, and can test our equipment in the places we love to recreate. We build products for local customers first, because we understand the local recreational potential, and then adapt them to fit a wider market.  That is the real reason why our logo says:  Jack’s Plastic Welding- Aztec, NM, USA.  We want you to know that the place it is made, is part of the product.

Over the years we have made many other products too.  If you would like to see what other engineers, Rescue personnel, climbers, environmental, medical, military, and things that save corals or manatees, have a look at the things we are most proud to have made over the last 38 years.

We are available to our customers, for product design, warranty and longevity issues.  We have 31 years of experience (as of 2014).   We know a lot about product construction, and how customers use our products.  We offer design collaboration as part of the added value.  We understand that customers often know what they want and we respect and incorporate that into the design.  Our warranties are as good as anyone’s, and because we are just a couple of days away via UPS, we can take care of our customers fast if they have any issues.  We like to say we have a warranty you can depend on, but will not have to.

The USA is renown around the globe as the center for innovation.  Other countries have been taking our ideas and making money with them for decades, but it took someone from the USA to invent the inflatable raft, and it took people who use those boats in the USA to improve on them.  In every locality there are stories about how this system or that system developed.  Those improvements were not made by someone overseas, but by someone who needed to figure out a better way to get down a river.  In our locality, people like Milt Wiley, Casey Lynch, and Wayne Walls on the Upper Animas, and Jake luck and Paul Thevinin on the Grand Canyon, and many others all over the USA were inventing ways to get people down rivers and have fun.  The point here is that Made in the USA not only means manufactured, but serious idea creation for fun!  That is why you should purchase products made by people who innovate and create the atmosphere where fun can reign supreme.  Products improve, Ideas improve, and people improve because they can have a lifestyle that was not possible before.

Where does JPW fit in all of this?  We were making Dry bags and Paco Pads back in 1983.   Our first catarafts were going down the Upper Animas by 1988, and we continue to improve the safety situation with cataraft and culebra rescue modifications

Our first customer was Hatch River Expeditions.  We started out knowing the deficiencies of the off shore products, because Jack was a raft guide for 8 years before starting the company.  When we brought new ideas to our outfitter customers, they let us know if it needed changing.   Sure we made some mistakes, but we watched our competitors make mistakes too, and we all learned from them.  We are still thrilled to be part of the process, and we are not too proud to admit a mistake.

This is why you should purchase products made by JPW in the USA.  We are serious about putting people on the river with quality products that work, and that last.  You can trust that 31 years of work means we have a very good idea of materials process and design.

Please follow these links to other parts of our site that deal with made in the USA issues.  It is really about being able to get products out to our customers that they cannot get anywhere else, and it is because of our location that we have this capability.
